Ways to Give

Give Now

Make an immediate, outright charitable gift. This giving strategy is for individuals who:

  • Have assets readily available
  • Want to avoid recognizing gain on real estate, capital assets
  • May want to give anonymously
  • Seek an immediate charitable deduction
  • Want to provide charitable support now
  • Want to benefit from Montana Endowment Tax Credit

Giving Tools for this strategy include cash, publicly-traded securities, closely-held stock, qualified charitable distribution from IRA, crops and/or farm equipment.

Give Later

Keep control of assets while living and make a charitable gift upon death. This giving strategy is for individuals who:

  • Want to leave a legacy by giving after death
  • Wish to retain control of assets while living
  • Wish to make a larger gift upon death
  • Help heirs avoid income and/or estate taxes on inherited assets

Giving Tools for this strategy include a will or living trust, beneficiary proceeds, life insurance policy, and real estate.

Give & Receive

Make a charitable gift and receive ongoing income payments for life or a term of years. The remainder provides charitable support to St. John’s United. This giving strategy is for individuals who:

  • Want immediate tax deductions, but charity receives benefits after death
  • Own appreciated assets generating low-to-no income
  • Seek an additional source of income
  • Wish to avoid market volatility
  • Want to benefit from Montana Endowment Tax Credit

Giving Tools for this strategy include charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts.
