As a full service adoption agency licensed by the state of Montana, we guide, educate, and support all members of the adoption triad. Each adoption is unique based on what is in the best interest for the child, birth parents, and the adoptive parents. Our staff is committed to assisting waiting families and birth parents with all legal matters pertaining to adoption as well as pre and post adoption counseling. We can also direct you to our Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program for more information about adopting a waiting child, and assist in search services for those interested in contacting a long-lost family member. Adoption laws vary by state, and all services offered by St John’s United are governed by and in conformity with the laws of the State of Montana.

Adoption Services

Building a family through adoption is a journey filled with joy, wonders, and challenges. There are many options to consider and we are here to guide you through the process every step along the way. These services are available to families residing in the state of Montana and all adoptive parents must be over 21 years of age and meet all state and country requirements.

Post Adoption Services

If you are hoping to learn more about a biological parent or a child you placed for adoption, we offer search and reunion services for birthparents, adoptees, and adoptive parents. We respect the confidentiality and privacy of all parties involved in the search process and we make every effort to ensure that one person’s desire to reconnect does not infringe on the rights of another.

Adoption is a lifelong journey and we value the importance of providing ongoing support and guidance wherever your family is on the journey of adoption. As an adoption agency with over 60 years of service to Montanans, our staff is committed to practicing evidence-based, adoption competent educational and clinical services.

Confidential Intermediary Services

St. John’s United Family Services provides Confidential Intermediary Services for any adoption placement that happened within the state of Montana. Montana has specific procedures by which parties to an adoption may obtain both non-identifying and identifying information from an adoption record, while still protecting the interests of all parties.

According to Montana law (MCA 42-1-103), a confidential intermediary is a person certified by the Department of Public Health and Human Services and under contract with or employed by a nonprofit entity with expertise in adoption. Upon court appointment, the confidential intermediary may represent one party to identify and locate the sought after relative.
